Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. The WPB and the nation's factories effected a great turnaround. Military aircraft production, which totaled 6,000 in 1940, jumped to 85,000 in 1943. Factories that made silk ribbons now produced parachutes, automobile factories built tanks, typewriter companies converted to rifles, undergarment manufacturers sewed mosquito netting, and a rollercoaster manufacturer converted to the production of bomber repair platforms. The WPB ensured that each factory received the materials it needed to produce the most war goods in the shortest time.
Without American production the Allies could never have won the war.
— Joseph Stalin during a dinner at the Tehran Conference, 1943
With the help of posters and public messages such as this one, America and the allies were able to win the war. The poster is in wonderful condition given the pressed paper/cardboard material it was made from. The wooden frame does appear to be original to the poster but it is in very worn condition and it would be safer to find a safer means in hanging it. The text on the poster is still easily discernible though there is loss and slight damage to the board itself. There is a partial tear in the upper left corner on the letter “S” which can be seen in the photos.
A lovely poster ready for display.
