Original Item: Only One Available. The M1 helmet is a combat helmet that was used by the United States military from World War II until 1985, when it was succeeded by the PASGT helmet. For over forty years, the M1 was standard issue in the U.S. military. The M1 helmet has become an icon of the American military, with its design inspiring other militaries around the world.
This Vietnam War era M-1 helmet shell has a set of swivel (movable) chinstrap loops called bales and a stainless steel rim. These rims were both rust resistant and had non-magnetic qualities that reduced the chance of error readings when placed around certain sensitive equipment (such as a compass). The helmet shell bears the marking M341 B, which means that it was produced sometime in November 1942. The Mitchell pattern camouflage cover is in good condition and shows signs of light use and minor staining.

Contract NO. 9085
8415-261-6833
Contract No. 9085 dates to the middle of 1965.
The helmet liner is in good condition, and has the original stamping on the webbing still visible. The “U.S.” stamp on the chin strap is still visible. The rear adjustment strap on the liner bears the original markings, with the date 1967. The chin strap is intact, and also has extensions with snaps on the end, which secure the liner to the shell for paratrooper use.
The helmet also has some common accessories seen on helmets from the Vietnam War, like a toothbrush that was used to keep weapons clean and operational, which is crucial in times of war. There are also folded C-ration napkins in the band. Napkins were also vital during times of war and the possibilities of use are endless, but we are almost positive you can guess why they were held onto.
This helmet is a fine example and still retains all of its original Vietnam War parts and paint. Comes ready to display in your collections!
