  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a gorgeous WWII seabag decorated for the 4th Marine Division by Staff Sergeant Robert A. Hamel, who served for 39 months in the Marine Corps, with service overseas from January 13th, 1944, until November 6th, 1945, for 22 months overseas. The bag is decorated with a UNIS marking and the insignia for the 4th Marine Division with battle names stenciled around it.


    The UNIS Marking is 4th Marine Division, 223. Under it is his name, R.A. HAMEL. Hamel was according to his muster rolls, with Company B, 4th Motor Transport Battalion, 4th Marine Division. Hamel was born in 1919 and spent several years in the Marine Corps. The back of the bag has the 4th Marine Division insignia with SAIPAN, TINIAN, IWO-JIMA, and ROI-NAMUR stenciled around it, for the battles he took part in.


    This is a fantastic bag with a great history, and Hamel definitely requires further research. The bag comes ready for further research and display!
