  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice M1917 helmet that was issued to a United States Marine after the Great War. This very nice example is complete with liner and a custom-added chin strap, but the shell was repainted green sometime after the war. Most notably the helmet features a WWII era EGA (Eagle Globe Anchor) insignia.

The shell is maker-marked ZF50, indicating that this is an American-made helmet, and not a British helmet supplied to US forces. This is also evident by the solid rivets used to retain the chin strap bales.

The liner is held in by a later-added nut, and the marine appears to have altered the liner to take his new chinstrap which has a buckle and adjustment holes. A small piece of leather was inserted into the sides of the liner with a shoelace strung through to hold the new chinstrap in place. It is honestly a very well-done alteration, and the marine was likely very proud of it.

This is a nice and seldom seen piece of Marine Corps history, an M1917 helmet used during the inter-war or WWII period. Comes ready to be proudly displayed! Semper Fi Marines.
