  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great Paramarine Service Uniform named to Private First Class and Assistant Cook (Corporal) William Roy Robertshaw who was a member of the 4th Parachute Battalion, First Marine Parachute Regiment, First Marine Amphibious Corps.

In January 1944, Robertshaw was working as a cook in the battalion mess when the Paramarines began to be disbanded. He was then transferred to the 3rd Battalion, 27th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division, where he became an Assistant Cook (Corporal). His uniform bears an outstanding set of custom-made Marine Paratrooper wings, as he was already certified as a paratrooper.

His uniform bears a 5th Marine Division patch on the left shoulder, Corporal chevrons on each sleeve, EGA collar insignia, a Ruptured Duck discharge patch over the right breast pocket, a Sharpshooter badge on the left breast pocket, a 4-place ribbon bar over the left breast pocket with the Navy Presidential Unit Citation with one star, American campaign medal, Asiatic Campaign medal with one campaign star, and the WWII Victory medal, and an outstanding set of USMC Paratrooper wings. The jacket has a 1941-1942 QM marking, and the stamped name W R ROBERTSHAW.

The uniform comes with several printed pages of research from the USMC Muster Rolls. Although Robertshaw never made a combat jump, he still saw the end of the war with the 27th Marines and was one of very few Marines to earn the distinction during the war. He was obviously very proud of it to have had custom wings made.

An outstanding uniform, ready for further research and display.
