  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a truly stupendous souvenir taken from the Pacific theater during World War II, brought back stateside, and sent home by Private 1st Class Victor R. Davis, 21st Marines, 3rd Marine Division. Davis served in the Pacific theater during the final year of the war, and his service requires a great deal more research.

The mailing label on the coconut reads:

    VICTOR R. DAVIS, USMCR
    8 BN 21ST MARINES 3RD DIV
    701 APO SAN FRANCISCO CALIF.

    MR. W.H. DAVIS
    MOUNT ERIE
    ILLINOIS
    PASSED BY NAVAL CENSOR

The label retains its 3 original stamps. The coconut measures roughly 12 x 7 x 6”, and is in great shape for its age. The soldier used nails to affix the mailing label to the coconut, making for a very interesting display piece. Looking at where the 3rd Marine Division was near the end of the war, this coconut likely came from Guam, but we cannot be certain.

This is a fantastic souvenir that will make a fine addition to any USMC collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
