Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce Russian blood chit from World War II! Russian blood chits were issued to air crews when their aircraft flew over Soviet-controlled airspace. The rayon blood chit has the American flag printed on both sides with a request in Russian to communicate with the American Military Mission in Moscow.
A blood chit is a notice carried by military personnel and addressed to any civilians who may come across an armed-services member – such as a shot-down pilot – in difficulties. As well as identifying the force to which the bearer belongs as friendly, the notice displays a message requesting that the service member be rendered every assistance.
This example shows heavy wear with some fraying of the material at the edges, giving it a great “been-there” patina. There are normal fold markings, and some wear to the flag on one side.
This is truly a wonderful example of an original blood chit which helped to identify the downed pilots overseas so that they could be helped. Comes ready to display!
