Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is an exceptional flag that measures 72" x 42". Genuine WW2 issue 48 star American flag offered in crisp condition consistent with its age and use in England during WWII. It is a sturdy cotton and has been stitched together. There are 48 stars individually stitched to this flag. Cotton flags were issued during WWII whereas nylon flags were issued during the Korean War. Earlier flags then WWII were made of a wool blend. Condition is excellent. Most notably its "flying history" is marked in ink on the header as follows:

All of the locations have been confirmed through research as existing during the specified time. Who lieutenant Macken was and what he did during the war has yet to be determined. A fantastic piece of WW2 Army Air Force history and a potential research project.
