Original Item: Only One Available. Lieutenant James Long was honored by the Consul of France in San Francisco and presented with the medal of the Legion of Honor. The ceremony was held at the Residence of France in San Francisco in March, 2015. Here is what was said about this true American Hero:

As an Air Force mechanic and then an Aviation Cadet, you joined the 381st Bomb division in October 1943 at the age of 22.

As a group lead bombardier in combat, you participated in several battles on the French territory against the German armies in 1944, especially during the Normandy invasion and the campaign in Northern France.

You were yourself wounded during the military operations.

For you actions, you were awarded, among others, the Purple Heart medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

This totally original U.S. Army Air Force Bombardier’s kit appears that it was unopened after Lt. Long’s final mission, its completeness and history are truly amazing.
