Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very attractive grouping of original U.S. WWII Army Air Forces flight equipment consisting of a Type A-11 intermediate flying helmet by The Selby Shoe Company, a pair of AN-6530 flying goggles, and a Type A-14 demand oxygen mask manufactured by The Ohio Chemical & Mfg. Co. and dated November 1944. All three components are correct WWII aviation equipment and display together exceptionally well, although there is no provenance establishing that they were originally issued to or worn by the same airman.

- WWII USAAF Leather flight helmet type A-11 made by the Selby Shoe Company: Size small, offered in good condition with evident wear and use, still retaining the original tag. There is chipping on both hard ear covers at the top edges.

- Clear Lens A-N 6530 Goggles: AN-6530 Goggles were produced during World War II as eye protection for United States Army and Navy flight crews. In 1943, the AN-6530 design replaced as standard the nearly identical USAAF B-7 goggle produced by Chas Fischer Spring Company of Brooklyn, New York. This set is marked on the underside of the left eye with his patent. Contracts for AN-6530 goggles were awarded to Chas Fischer Spring Co. and American Optical. The AN-6530's frame is nickel-plated brass and steel. Construction consists of stamped and milled pieces, soldered together. Milled brass pieces form the bridge and ferrule/strap lugs, and pieces of stamped sheet steel form the frame to hold the facepad and lenses. The ferrule / strap lugs are split lengthwise to facilitate removal and insertion of the lenses and rubber facepad. The lugs are secured closed by a salt-blued or parkerized and knurled carbon steel ferrule. Solid, worn condition with the black elastic head strap degraded.

- WWII USAAF Oxygen Mask Type A-14 manufactured by The Ohio Chemical and Mfg. Co: Size medium and offered in wonderful condition with minor cracking of age around the edges. Dated 11-44 for November 1944.

With its fully labeled Selby Shoe Company Type A-11 helmet, AN-6530 goggles, and November 1944 Ohio Chemical Type A-14 oxygen mask, this is an excellent representative ensemble of WWII American aviation equipment. The service wear to the helmet, degraded goggle strap, and light age cracking to the oxygen mask are important condition considerations, while the surviving labels and dates make the group especially useful for a collection focused on U.S. Army Air Forces flight equipment, bomber crews, fighter pilots, or high-altitude aviation during WWII.
