Original U.S. WWII United States Army Brigadier General's Small Fringed Command Flag - 11 1/2" x 17"
Original Item: Only One Available. In the U.S. military, a "flag officer", is any officer of high enough rank to fly a flag from the location of their command. In the U.S. Army, this applies to Officers of the Brigadier General (1 Star) rank and higher. Flags such as these were often attached to the outside of tents or other locations outside, while a more ornate fringed version would be used inside.
This flag has one star, for a Brigadier General rank officer, and measures 11 1/2" x 17". It is made of a single piece of what feels like silk or rayon cloth, dyed red with a white star in the middle. It has a gold fabric fringe going around three sides, and a long hanging tie attached to the side without the fringe. The flag does not have any maker markings that we can see.
Condition is very good considering the age. The colors are still bright, and the flag does not show much wear from service at all.
A very nice example, ready to display!
