  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the standard issue M1928 Haversack backpack used by U.S. armed forces at the start of WWII. These were designed at the turn of the century and used by all US Army and Marine Corps infantrymen throughout WWI and WWII. The original version, the M1910, was used throughout WWI, and was replaced by the M1928 during the interwar period. The only difference between M1910 and M1928 packs in design is the addition of an extra strap on the rear of the M1928.

This fine example was issued to the U.S. Marine Corps, as indicated by the ink stamped U.S.M.C. and EGA (Eagle Globe Anchor) logo on the cover flap. The haversack is marked BOYT / -42- on the back under the shoulder straps, indicating 1942 manufacture by Boyt Harness Company of Des Moines, Iowa. This company manufactured all types of field gear for the U.S. army, both leather goods like holsters and canvas goods such as this pack.

Condition is very good, with the original OD green #3 color retained very well, with some light wear and staining. There are a few small tears, but as far as we can tell, this pack is fully complete, with all buckles and straps present and functional.
