Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is what we've all been waiting for! A U.S. Browning M2 .50cal Display Machine Gun, complete with an original complete license-made M3 tripod and some great accessories!
This fantastic example is built around a BATF approved dummy receiver, which was custom fabricated mostly from new made components, which are bolted together. The rear sight and the spade grip / trigger assembly are definitely original, as is the cocking handle on the side of the receiver. The barrel trunion, top covers, and most likely all other parts used to build the box receiver are completely new made and inert. To add to the realism, an original lock frame and barrel extension were installed inside of the receiver. The replica top cover can be opened to inspect the interior.
The barrel is 100% original and live, and threads into the barrel extension, which is most likely the reason it was installed into the rummy receiver. It can easily be removed, and has a nice bore. However it has been modified slightly, looking to have been turned down near the muzzle, and the last inch of the barrel has been modified into a flash hider with slots running around the circumference The cocking handle still moves, the trigger pulls, and the display gun really looks great!
This "Ma Deuce" comes complete with an original WWII Style license made M3 Tripod, which has the correct pintle and T&E with it as well. The M2HB is STILL the heavy machine gun of choice for the U.S. military, as well as many other militaries around the world, so these tripods are still in service, which is one of the reasons they are so hard to find. This example is most likely European production, and is almost completely unmarked, so we do not know where it was manufactured.
Also included with the display gun and tripod is an original U.S. Issue manual, a large .50cal ammo can, a spare barrel cover, and also an original M2 bolt, which is definitely missing some internal components.
A fantastic opportunity to own a BATF approved inert display gun of one of the most enduring machine gun designs in history! Ready to display!
The M2 machine gun or Browning .50 caliber machine gun (informally, "Ma Deuce") is a heavy machine gun that was designed towards the end of World War I by John Browning. Its design is similar to Browning's earlier M1919 Browning machine gun, which was chambered for the .30-06 cartridge. The M2 uses Browning's larger and more powerful .50 BMG (12.7 mm) cartridge. The design has had many designations; the official U.S. military designation for the current infantry type is Browning Machine Gun, Cal. .50, M2, HB, Flexible. It is effective against infantry, unarmored or lightly armored vehicles and boats, light fortifications, and low-flying aircraft.
The gun has been used extensively as a vehicle weapon and for aircraft armament by the United States since the 1930s. It was heavily used during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, the Soviet–Afghan War, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the War in Afghanistan. It is the primary heavy machine gun of NATO countries and has been used by many other countries as well. U.S. forces have used the M2 longer than any other firearm except the .45 ACP M1911 pistol, which was also designed by John Browning.
The current M2HB (heavy barrel) is manufactured in the U.S. by General Dynamics Ohio Ordnance Works, and U.S. Ordnance for use by the U.S. government, and for allies via Foreign Military Sales, as well as by foreign manufacturers such as FN Herstal.
