Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a standard M1942 aluminum canteen cup stamped on the handle U.S. AGM Co. 1945. .
However, this is not just an ordinary canteen but a canvas for a very skilled (and bored) engraver (soldier) who recorded his journey from his first days in camp to just before the war's end. The canteen features unit markings on the bottom and reads:

Before you ask how could this have been done if the canteen was produced in 1945, this was probably made over the course of a few days towards the end of the war before the fall of Germany. After researching the progress our best guess is that this soldier was a member of the 6th Armored Division, but more research could certainly be undertaken. A lovely genuine piece of WW2 trench art created during moments of peace during one some of the darkest days in history.
