The American Schools at War program was a program during World War II run by the U.S. Treasury Department, in which schoolchildren set goals to sell stamps and bonds to help the war effort. The program was also administered by the U.S. Office of Education, the Federal government agency that interfaced with the nation's school systems and its thirty-two million students. The Office, however, allowed the Treasury to work with the schools directly as the main objective of the program was raising money.

This is a great poster printed by Abbott Laboratories as a contribution to the Treasury’s Schools-at-War Program. The poster’s design was commissioned by Abbott Labs , a medical products company that supplied the United States military forces in World War I and II. This particular design emphasizes all citizens in the home front should bear their obligation to support the war effort by purchasing war bonds to help finance the war. In this festive image , the viewer is encouraged to think of what a victory parade might feel like by witnessing the celebration shown in the image. Note, the soldier holding his rifle aloft while dangling a captured German helmet around his neck.
