Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. The Vought F4U Corsair is an American fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. Designed and initially manufactured by Chance Vought, the Corsair was soon in great demand; additional production contracts were given to Goodyear, whose Corsairs were designated FG, and Brewster, designated F3A.
This is a great piece, a son-in-service plaque which was made and shipped to an employee of Chance-Vought whose son joined the Armed Forces. The plaque itself measures 4 ¾ x 5 ¾” and has a small paper to the back reading:
We are proud that a
Member of your family -
And ours - is serving with
The armed forces.
Chance Vought Aircraft Division.
The box measures 6 ½ x 5 ¼ x ½” and is post-marked to Gustave Lombardini of New Haven, Connecticut.
