  • Original Items. Only One Set Available. This is an excellent matching pair of U.S. WWII period snowshoes, dated 1943 and stamped U.S. for military issue, manufactured by Snocraft Inc. of Norway, Maine. The company was founded around 1938. They supplied tens of thousands of traditional wooden snowshoes for the U.S. military, including the 10th Mountain Division.

The showshoes are in excellent condition and are each stamped:

    SNOCRAFT INC.
    NORWAY, MAINE
    22985

The bottom pike of each snowshoe is stamped with the designation, 10 x 58, and the date, U.S. 1943.

All straps are retained and the leather securing straps for the shoes are heavily crazed and cracked as shown. The snowshoes have an excellent overall patina and will look great in any WWII collection. They each measure roughly 56 ¾ x 10”.

The combination of the matching 22985 serial numbers, SNOCRAFT INC. NORWAY, MAINE markings, U.S. 1943 date, 10 x 58 military designation, complete bindings, and excellent overall patina makes this a particularly strong WWII winter-warfare equipment set. The crazed and cracked leather securing straps are the principal condition issue, while the matched numbering and clearly dated military markings remain the defining collector features.
