Original U.S. WWII Set of Two North African Campaign Souvenir Rings - One Marked TUNIS 1943

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set of Two Available. After the Successful Allied North African Campaign, attention was then turned towards nearby Italy, Ally to Germany. The nearby island of Sicily was captured, which then was used as a staging point for the invasion of mainland Italy. All of these operations utilized the supplies and ports available in the former Italian Occupied Territories and Colonies, particularly Tunisia, which was close by and had the Capital of Tunis as a major port. It continued to serve as an Allied Waypoint until the end of the War.

Here we have a lovely set of U.S. Serviceman's souvenir rings from North Africa, which represent typical designs we see. The first is clearly from the city of Tunis, and is marked TUNIS on one side and dated 1943 on the other. It is made entirely of what looks like silver, and the top of the ring shows engraved buildings by a large palm tree. The interior of the ring measures approximately 22mm in diameter.

The second ring is cast brass, and is quite decorative, with a Dromedary camel on a pebbled field on the top of the ring, and showing a building by a palm tree on the sides. There are also embossed flower designs on the top and sides of the ring. The interior of the ring measures approximately 22mm in diameter.

Some great WWII souvenirs from North Africa, ready to display!
