  • Original Item: Only One Set Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuses. These pieces of ordnance cannot be converted to an explosive device and are not available for export.

These are genuine World War Two dated 40mm Bofors gun rounds in a clip. Each round bears a 1945 date on the bottom of the shell casing, with three dated to March 1945, and the other dated to January 1945. The driving bands on the projectiles have lot numbers, but no dates, and they are painted fully red, which is the U.S. Navy BOFORS color code for B.L.&P. - Blind Loaded & Plugged, so these are inert projectiles. The rounds are all similar-looking and make for a fantastic display. Each projectile measures approximately 17 3/4" long, and the projectiles are relatively tight in the casings, with just a bit of wobble. They can be pulled out with some effort.

The clip the rounds are in is a U.S. NAVY BU. ORD. marked example, with a CONTRACT NORD 6940, which is within the WWII range of purchase orders, though we do not know the exact date. It has some where and a few dents, but all of the spring clips are functional, allowing the rounds to be easily removed for inspection.

The Bofors 40 mm gun, often referred to simply as the Bofors gun, is an anti-aircraft autocannon designed in the 1930s by the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during World War II, used by most of the western Allies as well some captured systems being used by the Axis powers. A small number of these weapons remain in service to this day, and saw action as late as the Persian Gulf War.

A fantastic set, perfect for any WWII display.
