  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a gorgeously painted construction helmet painted for the Saipan Construction Unit of the 1st Marine Amphibious Service and Supply. The extra star painted on the red diamond specifies this Marine as part of the Service and Supply section of the 1st MAC.

The helmet is in good shape overall and was originally a WWII homefront construction helmet brought overseas and used by a member of the Saipan Construction unit. This is a fantastic helmet worthy of further research. The paint is in great shape and was definitely painted as such in-theater.

The I Marine Amphibious Corps, or I MAC, was a formation of the United States Marine Corps. It was created on 1 October 1942, with most of the staff transferred from Amphibious Corps, Pacific Fleet (ACPF). It was then deployed to the South Pacific Area – a U.S.-led multinational military command active during World War II that was a part of the U.S. Pacific Ocean Areas – first to Hawaii, then to New Caledonia.

This is a great helmet, the first of its kind we have seen. Comes ready for further research and display.
