  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is an extremely scarce WWII Mk. III A2 Grenade, which saw heavy use during World War II. There are  three variants of the Mk III: the basic MK3, the MK3A1, and the MK3A2. They differ in their construction and the type of fuze used. They were designated Mk III (Roman numbers) prior to 2 April 1945, making this example a WWII manufacture. Like all deactivated ordnance, this grenade is Not Available for Export.

There is a paper label wrapped around the grenade reading:

    GRENADE HAND
    OFFENSIVE MK III A2
    LOT 7711 - 43

The body of the grenade measures 4½” tall with a 2⅜” diameter. The fuse screws off well but is a bit oxidized, and the pull ring is heavily oxidized. The fuze is not marked at all. There is peppering across the body which is under the green paint, meaning it’s been repainted at one point.

A great example of a very scarce WWII grenade, ready for further research and display.

The MK3A2 had a waterproof asphalt-impregnated fiberboard cylinder and its top and bottom were made from the same material. The top had a fuze well directly threaded in its center. It originally used the M6A4D fuze, which had a four to five second delay. This was later replaced with the updated M206 series fuze (currently using the M206A2), which was smokeless— and noiseless—burning and had a five-second delay. It contained an 8 oz. (~226.8 grams) TNT charge.
