Original U.S. WWII Rare Army Air Forces Cloth Chart “Escape and Evasion” 7 Language Blood Chit Combination Dated 1944 - 22 ½” x 24 ½”

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Now this was a fantastic discovery. We had received a large grouping of WWII AAF cloth charts and to our surprise we found this unissued condition beauty. Not only is this a pilots “Escape and Evasion” AAF Cloth Chart but it doubles as a partial 7 language blood chit!

This is a rare World War II United States Army Air Forces combination blood chit and escape/evasion map. The map is in rayon cloth, and shows a map of K'un-Ming in Yunnan, China to Chabua in Assan, India with one side showing the eastern half and the other the western. One column was devoted to translating the airman’s friendly message into seven different languages; Bengali, Hindustani (Urdu), Kachin, Lisu, Burmese, Chinese and English.

The message is as follows:

I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN. MY PLANE IS
DESTROYED. I CANNOT SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE.
I AM AN ENEMY OF THE JAPANESE.
PLEASE GIVE ME FOOD AND TAKE ME TO
THE NEAREST ALLIED MILITARY POST. YOU
WILL BE REWARDED.
