Born in Brussles, Belgium, George Schreiber traveled and studied extensively until finally arriving in the United States in 1928. Schreiber had two passions- first being an American citizen and second informing people of the war-torn horrors he had witnessed in Europe. He traveled extensively to all 48 states, everywhere displaying his paintings, lithographs and illustrations from his homeland. During World War II, the United States Navy commissioned Schreiber to create paintings to use as posters. He was often criticized by fellow artists for this career move. But Schreiber saw it as an opportunity to bring his art to great numbers of people, spreading important messages.
An unrestored totally original poster with a very clean overall appearance. It has minor signs of use, such as slight edge and fold wear, and very minor creases. The Poster has been folded, as it was originally for mailing to various government locations around the country. Offered in excellent condition with full color retention. Unframed.
