Original U.S. WWII Propaganda Leaflet Dropped on Japanese Industrial Areas with Letter to Parents - 73rd Bomb Wing

This is a rare example of a leaflet dropped by U.S. forces onto Japanese Industrial districts and ship-building facilities convincing them of their naval inferiority to the 2 greatest naval powers, America and Great Britain. The leaflet comes with a letter sent home by Roy W. Sommerfield, HQ 73rd Bomb Wing, and is dated August 9th, 1945, the final day of the bombing on Nagasaki.
The leaflet comes in a plastic sleeve with its direct translation printed on the back which also shows the back of the leaflet, depicting a bar graph indicating Japanese shipping losses, embellished with images of merchant vessels. The leaflet measures roughly 5½ x 8½”.
The letter discusses Memorial Day festivities and family members. The letter is written from the Marianas Islands. The letter comes with its original envelope which is what provides the name of the soldier, as well as his serial number, 37666922. This is a really stellar ephemera grouping ready for further research and display.
