Original U.S. WWII Plexiglass Stuka Model Made From German Bomber Shot Down By KIA Pilot Lt. Grant Logan of the 354th Fighter Group, 353rd Fighter Squadron With 6 Pictures - Stuka Made In 1945

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Lot Available. The 354th Fighter Group was an element of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Ninth Air Force during World War II. The unit was known as the Pioneer Mustang Group and was the first to fly the P-51B Mustang in combat. The group served as bomber escort in the European theater of operations until D-Day, then moved to France to support the drive to Germany.

This is a wonderful lot with incredible pictures from the 353rd Fighter Squadron, which includes a photo of Lt. Grant Logan in the Squadron Composite picture. The mini Stuka appears to have been hand carved and was constructed of a piece of plexiglass which was shot down by Lt. Logan some time before his death in 1944. The label on the wood base has a date of March 1945 and we believe that to be the date in which a member of the squadron made the model.

The condition of both the Stuka and the photos are excellent. The pictures do have some faint illegible writing on the back sides. The stuka stands at about 5” tall, has a wingspan of 5 ¼” and the aircraft’s length is 4 ⅞”.

Comes more than ready for further research and display.
