Original U.S. WWII Paratrooper Wrist Compass by Taylor with Leather Wrist Band

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine WW2 issue wartime model wrist compass, as used by Airborne troops on D-Day. This example is still fully functional, though it has lost the liquid dampening fluid (usually water), and is in excellent condition with what we believe to be the original issue leather wrist band. The band is in fantastic unissued condition and looks fantastic.

The compass is clearly marked on the reverse:

U.S. ARMY
COMPASS, WRIST,
LIQUID FILLED

TAYLOR MODEL

This compass, official known as "Compass, Wrist, Liquid-filled", was made by Taylor, whose stylized logo is also on the rotating cover. The compass was usually seen worn on the wrist (duh!), but also over the sleeve, the shoulder loops, webbing, or at the ankle over the jump boots. Wrist compasses were used both by officers and enlisted men, unlike the lensatic compass, or marching compass, which was normally reserved for officers, NCO's or men on a special mission.

This is a great example with a still-supple band, ready for further research and display!
