Original U.S. WWII Paratrooper Intact Liquid Filled Wrist Compass by Taylor with Wrist Band
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine WW2 issue wartime model wrist compass, as used by Airborne troops on D-Day. This example is still fully functional, and even still has the original liquid contents, something we do not often see! It is in excellent condition with the original issue leather wrist band. The band is in solid condition, though it does show a bit of age and drying.
The compass is clearly marked on the reverse:
This compass, official known as "Compass, Wrist, Liquid-filled", was made by Taylor, whose stylized logo is also on the rotating cover. The compass was usually seen worn on the wrist (duh!), but also over the sleeve, the shoulder loops, webbing, or at the ankle over the jump boots. Wrist compasses were used both by officers and enlisted men, unlike the lensatic compass, or marching compass, which was normally reserved for officers, NCO's or men on a special mission.
