  • Original Items. One-of-a-Kind. This is a phenomenal & extensive grouping belonging to Private Maurice E. Whirry, who performed special escort guard duties at the Nuremberg Trials. The group includes photo-copies of many of his documents, which lists that he guarded War Prisoners including Goering, Hess, Ribbontrop, Spiel, Doenitz, and Raeder at the Nuremberg trials and between the military tribunal and the prison. He was present at their hangings and acted as a pall-bearer.

    The extensive grouping includes:

-Whirry’s German-Made Bullion Nuremberg War Crimes shoulder patch which depicts the Scales of justice over a broken German eagle with a key above them in a shield, with a separate ribbon to be placed over the shield reading WAR CRIMES. This patch is gorgeous and is missing some bullion as shown.
-Two small pins which depict the patch and one pin for the International Military Trials in “Nürnberg”.
-Collection of 24 photos from the 166th Signal Photo Company, depicting many scenes from before, during, and after the trials. These also include some disturbing images.
-Commemorative booklet for the International Military Tribunal, the cover of which depicts the patch included. Dated July 11th, 1946. Great piece.
-Ticket for entry into the Visitors’ Gallery for the International Military Tribunal named to Harold G. Herbert.
-Photo-copies of Maurice E. Whirry’s documents including Separation Qualification Record, Honorable Discharge, his Nuremberg ID cards, and a photo of him over a document from Truman.
    -Period photo of Dachau.
-Period photo of Gestapo officer Franz Novak on trial.
-Book of Opening Speeches of the Chief Prosecutors of the Trial. Published in London 1946. Book has some heavy water damage but still reads fine.
Large book Justice at Nuernberg, a pictorial record of the trial of German War Criminals by the International Tribunal 1945-46. Book is in good worn shape with lots of great photos.
-Large photo book titled Nurnberg, with large scale photos of the town, the people, and the trial. Great shape.

This is a phenomenal collection of items from the most famous war crimes trial in history. There’s a nearly endless amount of information to go through, making this a phenomenally rare group. We scarcely ever find anything from these trials, so don’t miss out! Comes ready for further research and display.
