Original U.S. WWII North African Campaign Souvenir Ring marked Tunis 7 - 44

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. After the Successful Allied North African Campaign, attention was then turned towards nearby Italy, Ally to Germany. The nearby island of Sicily was captured, which then was used as a staging point for the invasion of mainland Italy. All of these operations utilized the supplies and ports available in the former Italian Occupied Territories and Colonies, particularly Tunisia, which was close by and had the Capital of Tunis as a major port. It continued to serve as an Allied Waypoint until the end of the War.

This ring is a U.S. Serviceman's souvenir from the city, and is marked TUNIS / '7 / 44 on the copper plaque on the top of the ring. There also is a nice Palm Tree engraving, as well as camel, typical iconic images from the North African country. The ring itself is made of white metal, possibly aluminum, but we have no way of testing the composition.

A great WWII souvenir from North Africa, ready to display!
