Original Items. One-of-a-Kind. This is a fantastic lot of four pieces of original artwork drawn for a U.S. Navy magazine during World War II. They include four great comics of varying sizes.
The first piece depicts a sailor sitting on Santa’s lap while two children wait their turn. It’s captioned: I don’t know why I’m telling you all this. This piece measures 10 x 13¾”.
The second piece of artwork is a small comic at the Discharge Office with a sign reading Specials for Today: Old Age, Rigor Mortis, Dependency (More than 30) with two old sailors to the left and the discharge officer telling a young man that he doesn’t qualify. This measures roughly 6 x 7½” and has some tearing as shown.
The third piece is titled “The Things I remember most about Delco-Remy” with anecdotes about the men he knew and the pin-up girls he remembered so well. Measures 9¾ x 12¾”. This one is dated October 1944.
The final piece is a Scuttlebutt comic about beer being served in the chow hall, with some really funny graphics Measures 8½ x 15½”. There is some damage to this one.
A great lot of original WWII artwork, ready for further research and display.
