Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is an excellent example of a World War II US Navy flashing signal light by Grimes. The Grimes Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of aircraft lighting systems located in Urbana, Ohio. During World War II, the company built an additional building to handle the increased production. The light was manufactured by Mazda, a subsidiary of General Electric.
The set is in good condition overall with some paint loss across, but the wiring appears fully intact, although the ends are just loose wiring. From the condition of this set, we believe it could possibly be restored to working condition, but we cannot guarantee that it will work.
The front of the glass reads:
FLASHING SIGNAL
MAZDA
GE
4520
6.6A 13V
There is a faint Grimes logo on the back. The side of the set is marked:
13 VOLTS
GRIMES G-31
REF. NO. 99103-S6600-658219
The back of the light has a switch which does still function, and the wiring is still plugged in well. The trigger works as well.
A good set that could possibly be restored, ready for further research and display.
