Original Items: Only One Group Available. This is a fantastic opportunity to add some very iconic WWII United States Navy items to your collection, all on an included mannequin. This grouping includes a Mk2 USN “Talker Helmet”, “Talker” Headset/ Microphone, a life jacket, a fantastic named denim uniform shirt & dungarees, and shoes. This is a fantastic flak gunner’s set, perfect for any WWII collection.
This group includes:
- Mk2 USN Talker Helmet: In 1942, the US Navy decided to commission a special helmet for sailors posted on decks and tasked with transmitting orders by sound-powered telephone. The new helmet was to protect "exposed deck personnel" and accommodate a telephone headset; furthermore, it had to be usable while wearing a gas mask and binoculars. This example is complete with the chinstrap and padding. It appears to have been repainted and does not have the USN stamp anymore.
- Headset MI-2045-E: The chest set would be positioned either on the user's chest or a flat surface and is spoken into like the early telephones, while listening from the headset. The chest set still has the nomenclature sticker present and was made by Radio Corporation of America. Much of the original wiring is present and there is a lot of it, but we have no idea if this set will still function.
- WWII United States Navy Kapok Life Jacket, with very very washed out tag with information but we could only make out KAPOK at the top. Heavily worn and likely missing pieces. Fits the set well.
- WWII Navy Denim Chambray shirt, named MORRIS, A. in several places, a great sailor-worn shirt. Size 14½ under collar.
- WWII Navy Denim Dungarees with belt, great shape with classic button closure. Great example and fits the set well.
- Pair of shoes, likely Navy issued, black with laces, likely post-WWII. There is a name in one of them.
Unfortunately, the mannequin isn’t in great shape and has some material staining on the head and in other spots. Additionally, it isn’t a full standing mannequin, so the shoes are virtually useless to the group unless the set was transferred to a different mannequin.
A great set of items creating a lovely mannequin display. Comes ready for further research and display!
