Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. Sergeant
Army Serial number was born in 1916 and enlisted on April 7th, 1942. He served in the 613th Light Equipment Company which was assigned to the 386th Engineer Company and had the following campaign credits; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe. After the fall of Germany while on occupation duty he sent home to his wife German Trophies of War as souvenirs. This grouping was purchased directly from his relatives and consists of the following items:- Fantastic German WWII wood box painted in standard Wehrmacht grey that measures 10 x 14 x 12 inches. The top of the box in white paint reads;
Inside the box there contains the following items:
- Original German WWII Luftwaffe M35 Helmet with double decals. The helmet is in excellent condition, retains all original both decals are retained are 85%. The liner is ink stamped size 57 and is original to the liner. Features an original chin strap that is complete. The helmet shell is stamped SE64 indicating manufacture by Sächsische Emaillier-und Stanzwerke, AG Lauter, (Saxon Enamel and Die/Metal Stamp Works), size 64. Overall a really nice helmet that is in the same condition it was when put into this box and shipped home in 1945.
- Original German WWII Mid-War Third Reich Wehrmacht Heer (Army) visor hat with ink size stamp 54. This peak visor cap has a fine field moleskin wool crown, with dark green wool cap-band and white piping. The peak visor cap retains an aluminum eagle with swas badge plus a very fine set of aluminum oak leaves with red felt cockade. The inner lining is champagne color. The celluloid diamond is absent. The visor retains all of its finish both on top and beneath. The tan synthetic leather sweatband is intact but shows use and wear and old celluloid tape repairs on the inside.
- Original German WWII Battle Flag with Wartime Markings 100cm x 170cm. The flag. Reichskriegsflagge (Imperial War Flag) was the official name of the war flag and war ensign used by the German armed forces from 1933 to 1945. Constructed of wool with a bright red background with a large white central circle displaying a huge swas with the German Naval Cross design also in black to the edges. In the top corner is a black on white Iron cross. In excellent condition with no discernible damage anywhere. Ink stamped 100 x 170 on the pole hang border which is faded but legible and HELMOND (HOLLAND) on the other opposite side. This is among the very best examples of this flag we've seen and appears to be just as it was when it was when put into this box and shipped home in 1945
- Original German WWII Original German WWII NSDAP Parade Banner that measures 68 x 28 inches. Constructed of cotton/linen the black NSDAP NSDAP swas and white circle are separate pieces that have been stitched to the red linen/cotton background. There are no corner ties but there is a channel for a pole indicating that this was used to hang vertically. The inner circle measures 16 inches in diameter.
- Original German WWII aluminum canteen with original wool cover, leather harness, and aluminum cup. The canteen is maker marked DMN and dated 1941.
- German silk scarf with swass and writing in silver.
A fantastic grouping of excellent condition genuine WWII material that based on the condition of the items has apparently laid undisturbed in the original bring home box since returning home in 1945.
