Original U.S. WWII Named 88th Glider Infantry Regiment 13th Airborne Division Uniform Jacket & Garrison Cap - Donald J. Smith

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the uniform group of Sergeant Donald J. Smith, 88th Glider Infantry Regiment, 13th Airborne Division, who served in France during World War II. The group contains his jacket and garrison cap, both of which have great 88th GIR DIs.
The jacket has a 13th Airborne Division patch on the left shoulder, Sergeant chevrons on both sleeves, and a service stripe on the left cuff. There is US & Infantry collar discs, and two DI for the 88th GIR, which appear more recent. There is a 3 place ribbon bar over the left breast pocket with the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal. Over this is a set of Sterling Glider wings. The jacket is marked Size 36R.
The garrison cap has a great enamel DI for the 88th GIR on one side and a great Airborne glider patch on the other. The cap has blue piping and is stamped on the interior with laundry number S4156 across from the name DON SMITH / G88. This is how we identified the group to Donald J. Smith.
