Original U.S. WWII Medical Department Field Desk No. 2
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare medical desk issued in WW2. Records on this desk are scare as are examples. We were able to find it listed in the Manual for the Medical Department. Original specs having it listed as weight 35 lbs when full and it was intended mostly for office work as opposed to medical supplies. Containing Stationary, Manuals and Blank Forms. Perfect for an administrator at a field hospital as the US ARMY sure did (and does) like its paperwork! However, these were commonly used by field doctors and medical staff for supplies as they were easier to carry than the cumbersome dispensing units.
The desk appears like a brief case measuring 20 x 7 x 14. It opens to reveal two sides both with covers that unfold to be desk tops for writing. Once side has two large compartments the other has a series of small compartments. Constructed of red painted is steel, with complete looking claps that function and working handles. It is embossed on the sides as follows:
FIELD DESK NO.2
MED. DEPT. U.S.A.
and on the reverse:
MED DEPT USA
Offered in good condition.
