Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice WWII Issue U.S. Marine Corps Visor cap, very similar in design to the U.S. Navy "Complete" or "Combination" cap. It utilizes a wicker frame base with with a dark navy blue wool covering, which is what the visor/peak and chin strap are attached to. Then the OD green wool cover is placed over this, and secured in place with the chin strap. This way, the Marine would not need to buy a different cap to use with his dress blue uniform.
The cap is in very good shape, with just a few month nips, and has a lovely black leather visor to the front, with the usual checking on the finish. It looks to be leather over a fiberboard stiffener. The black leather adjustable chinstrap is secured to the cap with two bronze USMC EGA side buttons, and is in very good shape. The front crown of the cap of course has a large U.S. Marine Corps EGA bronze screw back pin, which retains the original blacked finish quite well.
The interior is sheer green fabric, and is in good condition, with the original crown stiffener still present, though it is somewhat bent and does not support the crown anymore. There is a small 7 size tag inside the cap, which is loose and falling apart unfortunately. The sweatband is leather, however it also is a bit deteriorated, and is in fragile condition. The stitching however is still mostly intact, something we don't usually see.
A very nice WWII USMC Cap, ready to display!
