Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is a fantastic M8 Flare Signal Pistol set! The set includes the Signal Pistol, six spent 37mm flare casings, and best of all; a WWII Aircraft Stowage Compartment! Very nice condition 37mm big-bore signal pistol of WW2. The barrel has studs for attachment to a flare port in the fuselage of large aircraft such as bombers. The right side of the frame is marked inside a triangle:

The abbreviation at the top indicates manufacture by Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Co., one of several contractors employed to make these pistols. This example is offered in very good fully functional condition, and is marked on the spine of the grip with SERIAL No E-718159 with a high degree of the original blue finish present, as well as the paint on the aluminum portions. As far as we can tell, no parts are missing, and the firing pin is present and functional. It is marked with the U.S. Ordnance "Crossed Cannons" proof and "P" on the bottom of the grip.
This is a flare pistol, mainly used during and after WW2 in aircraft. Although intended to be mounted in the M1 aircraft mount, this flare pistol can be used as a conventional flare pistol. The barrel hinges down to allow removing a spent cartridge or loading a cartridge from the breech end of the barrel.
The aluminum stowage compartment is wartime and was intended to be mounted within the interior of an aircraft. It appears to be missing an internal divider. The compartment is attractively stenciled, in wonderful 1940s font, “ SIGNAL FLARES/AND/PISTOL”. This is the first of this variety we have ever had! This would make for a great display mounted on the wall of someone's war room!
Included are six post-WWII 37mm Casings. The only difference between these and the WWII versions is the date which is marked on them.
This is truly a wonderful example and comes ready to be displayed!
