Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice original WWII inert M7A1 rocket for the U.S. WWII 2.36 inch M1 / M1A1 Bazooka. Normally, the 2.36" rocket consists of a head, a stabilizer tube and tail. This example is painted in a gray blue color with oxidation peeking through, so this is likely period paint.
Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.
The inert rocket measures approximately 21 1/2 inches long and has been overpainted. Both the tail section and head are able to be removed for inspection of the interior. Due to the repainting we cannot see any markings. There are some minor dents on the cone and all the fins are present and mostly undamaged with some bending present. The M7A1 rocket is nearly identical to the M6A1 with the only difference being the lack of an explosive charge in the M7A1.
The M6A1 was the second projectile designed for the M1 and M1A1 bazooka family. The original M6 was notoriously unreliable, both with the launch and detonation. The M6A1 had improved fuze and ignition designs to help get rid of this problem. The rocket was eventually replaced with the round headed M6A3, which had a blunt head, which was intended to help prevent deflection off of armor.
The combination of the WWII M7A1 practice configuration, complete fin assembly, removable head and tail sections, surviving gray-blue overpaint, and fully inert construction makes this an excellent display companion for an original M1 or M1A1 2.36-inch Bazooka. The minor dents, oxidation, repainting, and slight fin bending are all consistent with age and training use.
