Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife with original M8 scabbard. It is nicely marked U.S. M4 / CAMILLUS on the blade side of the cross guard. The bayonet is in Nearly-Unissued Excellent condition. The blade is clean and sharp, with a great original finish and zero rust or post-manufacture sharpening that we can see. Blade shows very minor in and out wear.
The Grip and pommel are all tight to the blade, and the cross guard is solid. There are almost no signs of use on the grip, which has bakelite spacers at the pommel and grip. Marked 101 on top of pommel, along with other factory markings. Leather washer grip is in excellent condition, as are the plastic top and bottom spacers. There is a letter G scratched into one side of the grip near the guard, with an E on the opposite side.
Comes with an OD green fiber scabbard marked U.S. M8 / B.M. Co, offered in good condition. This design features a a fiberglass body, metal throat, and canvas frog and securing strap. It was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co. a division of Victory Plastics, whose stylized V P logo is on the back of the scabbard body. The canvas is in good shape, as are the metal fittings and snap, though unfortunately the fiberglass body is missing the tip. There also is some finish loss and oxidation on the metal components. The back of the scabbard is personalized with G 8934 scratched into the scabbard body.
