Original U.S. WWII M4 Bayonet for the M1 Carbine by IMPERIAL with M8 Scabbard by B.M. Co

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife, with an original M8 scabbard. Nicely marked U.S. M4 / IMPERIAL on the blade side of hand guard for the desirable maker, Imperial Knife Co. of Rhode Island. To the left of this is the U.S. Ordnance "Flaming Bomb". The blade is in good condition, showing heavy service wear, with some of the original finish still intact. There are some small nicks / dents in the edge. The crossguard, handle, and pommel are all tight to the blade.
The bayonet still has the original WWII issue leather washer grip with bakelite spacers at the top and bottom, which is in good service-worn condition. These have not been changed out, and the leather in the grip does show wear and rounding from service. The pommel is held on by the correct "Starburst" peening pattern used by many makers during WWII. There is a maker’s marking on the pommel with an S and a line through it.
It comes in a nice WWII issue OD green thermoplastic impregnated cotton fabric scabbard marked U.S. M8 / B.M. CO., also offered in very good condition. This early production scabbard was updated to the M8A1 standard by replacing the canvas frog with one that had a belt loop, as almost all were. The scabbard does show wear with scratching to the paint, but has aged well. The throat shows heavy wear to the finish, as shown. The canvas is in very good condition, and the snap still functions, with light finish wear. The scabbard was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co., a division of Victory Plastics, who manufactured many scabbards during the war.
