  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fine condition WWII production Mark 3 U.S. fighting knife, made by the desirable maker, Camillus Cutlery Co., and contained in an original early model M8 Belt Scabbard. Camillus was one of the major suppliers of edged weapons to the U.S. military during WWII, and produced a variety of different knives and bayonets.

This knife is an early production, indicated by the maker information being stamped directly on the blade: U S M3 CAMILLUS. This is the second version of the knife, as the first all had the date "1943" after the maker. The later version moved the markings to the cross guard. The 6 1/2 inch spear point blade is in good, used condition, with a lot of the original finish on the false edge. The handle and stacked leather grip are in very good shape, with a lovely color, no cracking, and a nice shiny slightly rounded look with some wear. There are no major cracks, and the leather is still soft. The bottom of the pommel shows the U.S. "Flaming Bomb" proof mark. The crossguard has some movement, with some oxidation as shown.

The original scabbard is marked, U.S. M8 B.M. CO and in very good condition with no major defects to note. This is the earlier version of the scabbard, but like virtually all M8 scabbards, had the retaining loop at the top added to upgrade it to M8A1 specs. The canvas is very good, with a bit of wear, and the finish on the snaps on the frog has worn. The fiberglass shell is in very good shape, with light wear. This scabbard was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co. a division of Victory Plastics. The original leather thong is intact.

A very nice example of an early issue M3 knife from a desirable maker, complete with scabbard, ready to add to your WWII edged weapon collection!
