Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great example of a “Transitional” two-tone color M1923 cartridge belt. The M1923 in olive drab #3 ('khaki') was manufactured from 1940-1943. 1943 is typically the transitional year where the color changed from olive drab #3 to #7 (green), but in truth this spanned 1942-1944. This can be seen here with the pouch flaps being the brighter khaki color. In 1945 the M1903 stripper clip retaining straps were dropped from the Army contracts. This example retains the straps.
The back of the belt is marked:
HINSON MFG. CO.
JAN. 1942
This denotes manufacture in January of 1942. The belt shows good service use and is inscribed NED next to a star. There is scattered verdigris with minor fraying of the material.
