  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very interesting U.S. WWII-period M1910A-series spotting telescope set complete with its original tripod, leather transit chest, removable eye shield, front lens cap, and two interchangeable eyepieces providing 10x and 15x magnification. The telescope is generally identified as an M1910A or M1910A1 type, though the original identification or data plate is now absent, preventing us from positively confirming the exact variant.

Spotting telescopes of this type formed part of the optical equipment used by the U.S. military for observation, target spotting, and related artillery or field duties. The combination of a magnified telescope with interchangeable eyepieces and an adjustable tripod allowed observers to establish a relatively stable viewing position in the field.

The original leather transit chest has heavy wear with some straps missing, but still opens and closes without issue. The interior is in better condition but there are likely some pieces missing. There are small light bulbs in the chest that can be attached to a fitting near the front as shown. The front of the telescope retains the lens cap. The telescope can be sat down directly onto the tripod and displays nicely. The tripod is adjustable and when it was all set up, it measured roughly 41 ½” tall.

The telescope is stamped with part numbers on the different components, but the data plate is now long gone. The telescope measures 25 ½” long. The tripod on its own when folded up measures 40” long. The eye shield is removable and has a spot in the chest. The chest itself measures roughly 26 x 7 x 7 ½”.

Although the missing data plate prevents a definitive determination of the exact M1910A-series variant, this remains a notably complete optical set. The surviving 10x and 15x eyepieces, removable eye shield, objective cap, tripod, transit chest, lighting components, and numbered telescope parts preserve much of the equipment originally associated with the instrument, while the heavy wear to the leather case reflects genuine military storage and use. As a complete mounted assembly, it presents particularly well as an example of U.S. military observation equipment from the WWII period.
