Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a great lot of four WWII Army Medals in great condition. None of the medals are engraved but they are all of WWII manufacture and issue. The tradition of awarding medals to America's military men and women dates to the American Revolution. On Aug. 7, 1782, Gen. George Washington established the first authorized US military decoration—the Badge of Military Merit, which eventually transformed into the Purple Heart medal we are familiar with today.

The medals include:

- Purple Heart Medal: No number but of WWII manufacture and construction. Ribbon is in great shape without fraying. Awarded for wounds received in action and for being KIA.
- Soldier’s Medal: awarded to any person of the Armed Forces of the United States or of a friendly foreign nation who, while serving in any capacity with the Army of the United States, including Reserve Component soldiers not serving in a duty status at the time of the heroic act, distinguished himself or herself by heroism not involving conflict with an enemy. Great shape without number or name.
- Distinguished Flying Cross: The Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) is a military decoration of the United States Armed Forces. The medal was established on July 2, 1926, and is currently awarded to any persons who, after April 6, 1917, distinguish themselves by single acts of heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. Both heroism and extraordinary achievement are entirely distinctive, involving operations that are not routine. The medal may be awarded to friendly foreign military members in ranks equivalent to U.S. Pay Grade of O-6 and below, in actual combat in support operations. Great shape without issue.
- WAAC Medal: The Women's Army Corps Service Medal was a military award of the United States Army which was created on July 29, 1943, by Executive Order 9365 issued by President Franklin Roosevelt. The medal was intended to recognize the service of women to the Army during the Second World War. The profile featured on the medal is that of the goddess Pallas Athena; the same profile was used for the Women's Army Corps branch insignia. A great example with light fraying.
