Original U.S. WWII Large Service and Battle Pennant Grouping - 30 Items

Original Items: Only One Group of 30 Available. This is an incredibly large grouping of pennants from the WWII era. These all are believed to be a “welcome home” series of pennants, recognizing service in various locations and theaters. They are all roughly the same size, averaging at 15 ½” x 8 ½” with the smallest pennant being 10” x 6 ½” and the largest being 29” x 11”.

The pennants are of similar construction, all wool with printed/painted artwork and letters. They are all in similar condition, minor fading, moth nips and no noticeable damage.

The Pennants Included: New Georgia, New Guinea, Peleliu, Saipan, Guadalcanal, Samoa, Naval Air Technical Training Center Memphis TN, Okinawa, Bougainville, Admiralty Islands, Pago Pago, Wake Island, Queensland (Souvenir), Tulagi, Philippines, Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji, New Hebrides, Vella Lavella, Army Air Forces, Espiritu Santo, Kolombangra and New Zealand. The large pennant is a welcome home pennant and the smallest is a USN pennant.

x2 Small Service Banners: The first banner measures 10 ½” x 6 ¼” and features a lovely embroidered Air Service and insignia. In the middle is the blue star service flag. The second banner measures 11 ¼” x 6” and features a lovely printed US Sailor above a blue star service flag with U.S. Navy at the bottom above an anchor which is flanked by two stars.

All items are absolutely incredible and would all display very well together.

When the American soldiers returned home from World War II in 1945, they were greeted as heroes in the United States. Cities and towns across the country held parades to honor the returning veterans and recognize the sacrifices they had made.
