  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great example of the 6” blade KA-BAR “Commando” knife, not an issued model but a private purchase item that could be bought in the base or post exchange and was favored by Navy pilots and SeaBees, among others, because its blade is shorter than the issue KA-BAR's and because the shiny blade is less prone to corrosion. There were two variations of the so-called "Commando" knives. One variation had a chromed finish with a fullered blade, and another variation with an un-fullered blade with a parkerized finish. This example comes in its original sheath.

The knife shows wear to the chrome plating along the edge from period sharpening. The crossguard is stamped:

    KA-BAR
    OLEAN, N.Y.

The overall length is 10 ½” and the crossguard and pommel are tight to the knife.

The original leather sheath is in good shape with a retained securing strap/snap, but the rivet holding in the strap is a bit loose, so it spins around. The belt loop is in good shape. This sheath has much leather than a normal KA-BAR sheath, which helped it to survive so well.

A great example, ready for display.
