Original U.S. WWII Junkers Ju 88 Schnellbomber "fast bomber" Trench Art With Miniature Bomb Pedestal Base

Original Item: Only One Available. Fantastic model aluminum JU-88 with wings that measure 7 ⅜” and fuselage that measures 6 ¼” in length. Typically, items such as these were constructed out of aluminum and metal salvaged from down aircraft. However, there is no way to tell if this in fact was made from pieces of a JU-88. The base stands at 4 ¾” tall and has a bottom width of 3”.
There is no extensive damage present and it does appear to be complete. There is minor chipping present on a few of the edges, but they could have been made when constructing this item. The paint that is present on it may have been done post war. The base in which the model sits on is moveable, allowing you to rotate it while it sits at a fixed angle. We have removed the props and labeled them “Left and Right” so you can keep it in the original configuration. The props were loose so we removed them so they would not get damaged in transit. The nose cones are still able to be tightened down completely and are not stripped.

The Junkers Ju 88 is a German World War II Luftwaffe twin-engined multirole combat aircraft. Junkers Aircraft and Motor Works (JFM) designed the plane in the mid-1930s as a so-called Schnellbomber ("fast bomber") that would be too fast for fighters of its era to intercept. It suffered from technical problems during its development and early operational periods but became one of the most versatile combat aircraft of the war. Like a number of other Luftwaffe bombers, it served as a bomber, dive bomber, night fighter, torpedo bomber, reconnaissance aircraft, heavy fighter and at the end of the war, as a flying bomb.
Despite a protracted development, it became one of the Luftwaffe's most important aircraft. The assembly line ran constantly from 1936 to 1945 and more than 15,000 Ju 88s were built in dozens of variants, more than any other twin-engine German aircraft of the period. Throughout production the basic structure of the aircraft remained unchanged.
