Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the first Jeep rollup map case we’ve offered, but this example is certainly one of the best to be found! This 1944-dated example retains an original period map of Heidelberg. It is a first proof edition dated June 1944. The map even has some minor annotations including the officer writing My building next to his HQ, as well as bridges being marked Bombed or Bombed and rebuilt.
The map case retains some faint markings on one side with U.S. and a very faint 1944 date. The cellophane plastic grid in the map case is in fair overall shape, but there are areas of cracking and heavy warping in the material. This example certainly saw heavy use.
We did not attempt to remove the map as it’s certainly been in there since the war. One of the greatest map cases we’ve ever offered, ready for- further research and display.
