Original U.S. WWII Inert M38 100 Lb. Aerial Bomb Trench Art Ashtray With Air Forces Artwork

Item Description

Original Item: One-Of-A-Kind. This is truly a lovely example on just how creative men at war can be. The soldier who made this use an M38 Aerial Bomb, cut it down and re-welded the nose closer to the tail. He then cut heart shapes with excess material used for the resters. There is no bottom tray or anything, so if this were to be used for any reason, something will have to be added.

This is completely inert and hollow and is in compliance with the current BATF standards on ordnance.

Not Available For Export

The artwork featured is Pilot related with a lovely set of wings painted and a few stars throughout. On the top cone it says To Richard From Hank, so obviously this was a very thoughtful gift during the time! Being how it’s only first names written, we have not been able to locate service information.

The artwork is faded and can still be seen. There is surface rust throughout the item, indicating that this was used during outdoor festivities for many years.

Comes ready to display!

Nothing better captures the nature of human experience than the art chosen to depict it. Few human experiences are more dramatic than war, and this art by soldiers in an American division in World War II is particularly compelling. They answered their nation's call and gave their all on the battlefields of Europe, with unwavering loyalty to their comrades as their finest attribute. The men of these American Divisions fought to liberate Italy and other European countries from the evils of Fascism. The battle was hard and the price was high, both for the soldiers and for the countryside over which they fought.
