  • Original Item: Only one Available. This is a fantastic totally inert -BATF compliant 75mm VT Proximity round (shell and casing) for the Sherman Tank and M1 75mm Pack howitzer. It is in very good condition, and has an extremely scarce Mark 53 Variable Time Radio Proximity Fuze. Please note that it is not available for export.

The green projectile itself appears to be repainted, as there is oxidation under the paint. The round comes with an outstanding Mark 53 Variable Time Radio Proximity Fuze, the first we have ever seen.

The bottom of the casing is dated 1942 and marked as 75MM M18. The driving band is broken as shown but looks to have been glued back on, but there is still a section missing.

The VT (variable time) fuze is widely regarded as second only to the Manhattan Project in terms of bringing technological advantage to the Allies in World War II. The VT fuze was used to explode ordnance when the weapon was in close proximity to the target; the target could be fighter planes, bombers, or buzz bombs.

The fuze is missing the battery as these almost always are. An extremely rare example, ready for display.
